Jamieson Contracting (Mcr) Ltd - About Us
Jamieson Contracting (Mcr) Ltd is family run business. Chris & Bernadette Jamieson are the Directors, whilst son Andy is the Operations Manager, overseeing all day to day operations and projects.
Chris initially started the firm 25 years ago on his return from working in Saudi Arabia. It was known in those days as Chris Jamieson Plastering. Andy joined as an apprentice plasterer in 1995 and went on to pass his advanced crafts. Then the business was expanded once again taking on other tradesman and an apprentice.
Originally, the work undertaken was high class plastering work mainly for small to medium building firms in Stockport, Wilmslow & Cheshire. However, an opportunity arose to work within the social housing sector, with all the work guarantees that went along with it. This proved to be a successful move because Social Housing means more Health & Safety awareness, better understanding of tenants (customers) needs and in short, a more modern and regulated approach to the building industry in general.
Over the past 15 years more and more local youngsters have been employed on modern apprenticeships. This culminates in them gaining NVQ standard qualifications. Currently there are 6 young people across various trades including electrical, decorating, plastering and joinery employed. This results in a balanced, loyal workforce.
Our long-term contract in Social Housing is with Eastlands Homes in East Manchester. This has enabled us to demand the best prices from our suppliers. Easter 2010 will see us pass this saving onto private customers as we expand into a new sector of the market.
In April we will be offering a range of bathrooms, kitchens, windows and high performance external doors direct to the customer. We will also be offering a range of disabled bathrooms, wet rooms & kitchens direct to the public from local manufactures such as Autumn Bathroom Design and Howden’s Kitchens.
